Shop Now Closed
Just under a month I opened my shop selling my novel as an ebook and now I am closing it. There are many factors in my decision to terminate this internet experiment, not least is that in four weeks I have failed to sell even one ebook. Also the traffic to my site has dropped to about one third what it was before I took my book down and repackaged it as a buyable ebook. I don’t know if the two events are related or if google just decided to throw me a wobbly
I had thought that I could go around the internet promoting myself and encouraging people to come to my site and buy the ebook of my novel, but I found that trying to find blogs and discussion groups where I could comment and post a link back to my shop was much more work than I had thought it would be.
Also I felt that if I had to take every opportunity to promote myself(and link back to my shop) then all I would see are opportunities to promote myself and that instead of making meaningful constructive comments on other people’s blogs I would end up just making “spam” comments trying to lure potential buyers to my site in order to persuade them to buy my ebook.
